An essential pickled pepper in Greek salads & antipasto platters. 1 PACKET WILL PLANT (20) PLANTS STARTED INDOORS. Seeding Info: Start Inside: RECOMMENDED. 8-10 weeks before last frost. Several inside hints:>When seedlings grow first set of true leaves, transplant into bigger containers.>To germinate quickly, seed requires very warm soil temperatures, between 80-90 degrees. Either use heating cable OR cover seed tray with plastic bag.>Germinate with low soil moisture - do not overwater! Keep "slightly" moist.> Soak seeds in salt water (1 tablespoon per quart of water) for 2 days before planting. TRANSPLANT OUTSIDE: Spring. 3-4 weeks after last frost, and when soil temperatures are at least 65 degrees. In USDA zones 9 & 10, can also plant in July thru Sept. for crops in Oct. thru January. Note: to get a jump on the season, peppers can be transplanted outside earlier if planted in Walls-of Water or if planted into black plastic. Black plastic is highly recommended, but make sure it is taken off later in the season. Culture: A warm season crop. Peppers have a rather narrow temperature band where they perform best - 60-70 degrees at night and 70-85 degrees during the day. If night time temperatures fall below 60 degrees, plants will not produce fruit (cover with hot caps at night). Also peppers don't like warm winds; plant in a protected location in your garden if warm winds are common. SOIL: Average garden soil. If excessively sandy or clayey, add sufficient amount of organic material. WATER: Peppers use quite a bit of water but preferred to be watered deeply, but not too often. Don't let plants wilt. Water soil, not leaves. EXPOSURE: Full sun. FERTILIZER: Work an organic fertilizer into soil before planting. Fertilize MONTHLY with a low nitrogen fertilizer after planting. SPECIAL GROWING INSTRUCTIONS: Keep weeded. Peppers have shallow roots so cultivate lightly. Do not weed inside drip line of plant. Harvest Info: Ready to harvest in 65 days. Harvest when peppers are 3-4" long; fruit is fully ripe when yellow. Free Shipping
